Onion Sauce


This sauce goes well with roast or grilled lamb.

  • 450g onions finely chopped
  • 50ml cream
  • 50g butter
  • 250ml milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp ground pepper
  • ½ tblsp flour

Melt the butter over a gentle heat first. Add onions and cook covered in saucepan over a low heat until soft (about 40 minutes). Add seasoning and stir in the flour, milk and cream. Simmer gently for 5 more minutes.
